Demonstrating our latest investments when hosting the MAA R&D Panel
We were delighted to host the Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA) R&D panel at Mettis Aerospace recently. We’re proud to be a Midlands-based aerospace company and it was great to show the panel some of our latest, multi-million-pound technology investments and our highly-skilled teams in action.
The Midlands has a thriving aerospace industry and the MAA is the second largest regional aerospace alliance in the world in terms of the number of member companies it supports and represents including Rolls-Royce, Meggitt and UTC.
The MAA is very active and forward-thinking in its approach. It encourages knowledge sharing, delivers support programmes to members and enables partners to join up to deliver projects which will help drive the industry forward.
Mettis Aerospace has been a member of the MAA for many years and has recently been involved in three Government-funded, NATEP projects. The £40m NATEP programme is helping UK companies develop over a hundred innovative technologies as well as enhance capabilities and competitiveness in the global market. We gave the R&D panel an overview and update on the three projects during the day.
We also talked more widely about what we do at Mettis and gave the panel a tour of our design and engineering, R&D, tooling, forging and machining facilities. If you’ve not visited our facilities before, why not take a video tour here?
“It was great to show the MAA all that we do here at Mettis including our investments in machining which we have made after winning substantial new orders recently as well as the technologies we’re developing in our dedicated R&D centre,” said Peter Bishop, Technical Sales Executive, who hosted the event.
Dr Andrew Mair, Chief Executive, Midlands Aerospace Alliance, added: “Our R&D panel is made up of experts from a wide range of Midlands aerospace companies who give their time to support R&D projects in the supply chain. We are grateful to Mettis for hosting the meeting. I know panel members were hugely impressed by the capability and the new technology Mettis has to offer the global aerospace sector.”
