Mettis Aerospace today announced the award of a contract with Boeing Commercial Airplanes to supply forgings for the main landing gear of Boeing Next-Generation 737s

April 2007

Forgings are the main landing gear support beams and form an integral part of the landing gear, vital to the safety of the aircraft. The forgings will be delivered to Boeing’s facility in Portland, Oregon.

Karl Bishop, sales and marketing director at Mettis, said: “The award represents a major milestone on the development of the Mettis-Boeing relationship.”

The Boeing Next-Generation 737 family is the world’s most popular and reliable commercial airplane. Through the end of March 2007, Boeing sold 6,866 737s.

Mettis is fast developing a reputation for a high quality and responsive service.

North American business now represents over 15 percent of Mettis’s direct sales and this is predicted to increase substantially, according to company executives as they continue to position themselves as a value-added partner to the Boeing and GE AE’s supply chains.

Mettis recently announced a $20m contract to supply outlet guide vanes for GE-AE’s large commercial aircraft range including GE90, GP7200 and GEnx Engines.
