Lead Conformance Engineer (Machining)

Profile

Accountable for delivering consistent product to schedule and to standard.  Conforming to capable operations and processes. Conformance engineering combines elements of quality and manufacturing engineering to resolve complex process issues expediently. Capable of being very hands on and interfacing across the business functions, the Conformance Engineer will also be able to communicate effectively in resolving internal and external Quality issues.

Scope and Responsibilities

  • Supporting Conformance Engineers.
  • Encompassing quality, quality assurance, contract review, metrology and manufacturing engineering.
  • Responsible for
    • Maintaining and improving performance metrics
    • Supporting customer supplier interface
    • Supporting material review boards
    • Enabling support to SQDCP
    • Reduction of concession applications
    • Problem solving resolution
    • Working to best practice blue print processes
    • Eradicating process variability and implementing SPC to achieve CPK1.33
    • Supporting a responsive ANDON system to operations stop, call, wait
    • Continuous product and process improvement
    • Interface as required in advanced engineering activity

  • Supporting NPI programmes to time, cost and quality
  • Helping to raise concessions and FAIRS to schedule
  • Reducing inspection through application of SPC
  • Responding to operation issues within set limits

  • Improving internal RFT by 50%
  • Reducing the cost of non-quality by 50% (ie scrap)
  • Supporting process adherence
  • Constructing durable SOP

Experience and Qualification

  • Manufacturing engineering and/or quality engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
  • HNC/ONC qualification preferred but not essential if relevant experience can be demonstrated
  • Proven track record
