Senior Process Leader – Nights

Profile

The Senior Process Leader is accountable for delivering overall operational performance within one of the four units. With a clear focus on the business KPIs, working with other functional teams to deliver sustainable improvements within the manufacturing process.

Working with the Operations Director to build a fully enabled team to deliver business results. Work to develop the team and provide support and guidance as required.

Deputising for the Operations Director as required.

The Senior Process Leader will have a good overall understanding of the business and be involved in the management of the P&L and delivering business performance.

Ensuring consistent standards are met, achieve rigorous SQDCP performance improvements and customer satisfaction by delivering products OTIF from a vertically integrated process stream. Responsive to customer / supplier demands and NPI’s and proactive in moving the business forward.

Scope and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operations activity within one of the four business units.
  • Deputise for the Operations Director as required.
  • Developing good working relationships with all functional teams.
  • Headcount ranging from circa 50 – 110 heads with circa 4 -5 direct reports.
  • Leading the operations team, provide guidance and mentoring for the Process Leaders within the business unit.
  • Work with the Operations Director and Finance team to deliver budgeted P&L performance
  • Active involvement in defining and delivering ‘Plan On A Page’ (POAP) commitments
  • Ensure Process Leaders are focused on managing departmental costs, to ensure budget targets are achieved, with particular attention to:
  • Payroll
  • Consumables
  • Tooling
  • Sub Contract
  • Overtime

In conjunction with the Business Planning team, establish business plans to support the management of:

  • Machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime
  • Load & Capacity
  • SIOP (Sales Investment Operations Planning)
  • OPE
    • Performance Management / Production System
  • Manpower – People management, absence, productivity, skills, training
  • Machines – Asset care / Die Care
  • Methods – Standard Operations
  • Material – Production plan, Flow, Logistics, inventory
    • Delivery metrics – OTIF, Arrears reduction, Customer satisfaction, Business unit costs and revenue output in line with budgets, build and maintain buffer stocks
    • Standardisation of process and consistent application
    • Working environment – compliance to Mettis Policy and EHS directives.
    • Leading, setting standards, guiding and coaching in line with vision mission values
    • Responsible for the process stream 24/7
    • Working with COA’s to provide accurate and reliable feedback to customers
    • Meeting with customers
    • NPI / RPI in line with project management policy milestones

Experience and Qualifications

  • HN / Degree qualification in Mechanical / Production Engineering / Business Analysis (Preferred but not essential), or relevant experience
  • 5+ years in manufacturing operations
  • 5+ years in management of operational teams
  • Proven track record in delivering sustainable improvement and developing teams
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as a group
