Mettis employees raise £2,920 for Home-Start

Over eighteen months, Mettis employees raised £2,920 for Home-Start North East Worcestershire, including £405 which was match-funded by Barclays Bank.

Home-Start North East Worcestershire is one of the charity’s 269 local, independent branches which works with families in the area who may be facing challenges such as post-natal depression, isolation, health problems, bereavement and other issues.

Across the United Kingdom, Home-Start makes a huge impact through its 16,000 volunteers who reach out to 30,000 families and help to transform the lives of 60,000 children.

All fundraising was coordinated by our social committee, a passionate group of employees from across our company who organised many activities and events including quiz nights, a summer barbecue and a Christmas raffle.

Karen Price, Executive Assistant for our Business Development team, who is a key member of the social committee, said: “I’m really proud of how much we’ve raised for Home-Start after the tremendous amount of work everyone’s put in. The Home-Start volunteers are wonderful and are making such a difference in our community. Raising money for them has created opportunities to bring everyone together and we’ve had a lot of fun at the same time!”

Karen Jones, the manager of Home-Start North East Worcestershire, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Mettis Aerospace. The money raised also enabled us to gain matched funding from the People’s Health Trust and Henry Smith. This combined means we can keep vital family groups open. There’s nothing really like them available in the Redditch area and they have a wide reach across the community.”
