About the Role

We’re looking for a Logistics Operative to join our team and play a key role in keeping our operations moving efficiently. This is a hands-on role focused on picking, packing, and dispatching high-value and safety-critical aerospace components, ensuring every order leaves on time and to the highest standard.

You’ll also support goods-in, internal material movements, and stock control—working closely with teams across the business to ensure smooth flow, accuracy, and traceability. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced, team-driven environment and takes pride in doing things correctly.

 

As a condition of employment successful candidates are required to satisfy ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance and must fulfil the following before commencing this role:

i. Currently hold the legal Right to Work in the UK

ii. Fulfil a DBS clearance

iii. Provide a consistent 5-year UK domicile

iv. Pass Drugs & Alcohol screening at the start of their Mettis employment

 

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

Accurately pick customer and internal orders in line with delivery schedules

Pack goods securely, ensuring appropriate protection, labelling, and presentation

Support the preparation of dispatch documentation including shipping labels and transport notes

Assist with the timely dispatch of goods in line with courier and transport schedules

Carry out checking procedures to reduce picking and packing errors

Receive and unload incoming deliveries safely and efficiently

Check goods against delivery documentation and report discrepancies or damage

Store goods in designated locations in accordance with stock control procedures

Safely move materials and products between departments as required

Maintain clear identification and traceability throughout all logistics processes

Update stock systems accurately for all goods movements

Support stock counts and cycle checks to maintain inventory accuracy

Maintain clear and accurate documentation in line with company procedures

Safety Responsibilities

Follow all HSE policies and safe working practices

Use PPE and manual handling equipment correctly

Keep the working environment clean, organised, and safe

Report hazards or incidents promptly

Quality Responsibilities

Follow SOPs (standard operating procedures) & ensure full traceability of goods

Maintain accuracy in all picking, packing, and stock transactions

Support quality standards and continuous improvement

Ensure correct labelling, documentation, and traceability of goods

Delivery Responsibilities

Ensure orders are dispatched on time

Support efficient warehouse flow and organisation

Communicate priorities and resolve delays quickly

Cost Responsibilities

Reduce errors, waste, and rework through careful handling

Support efficient processes and use of materials

People Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments

Communicate clearly and support team objectives

Follow all company policies and procedures

Business Responsibilities

Act as an ambassador for Mettis

Contribute ideas to improve processes and efficiency

Support the company’s Vision, Mission, and Values

 

Qualifications

GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English

Experience in logistics, warehouse, or manufacturing (preferred)

FLT licence (not essential)

Basic IT skills (warehouse/stock systems experience an advantage)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Redditch, Worcestershire (on site, 5 days)

Hours: Monday – Thursday: 07:30 – 16:30& Friday: 07:30 – 12:30
